Thomas Brancheau Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Merkle Funeral Service, Inc. - North Monroe on Jun. 27, 2025.
Thomas Floyd Brancheau was born on March 23, 1959, to his loving parents Floyd and Ilah Mae (Meyer) Brancheau. Tom, one of five children, cherished being both a big and little brother to his sisters.
Tom rode mini-bikes, motorcycles and snowmobiles. He patched an old boat stuck in Swan Creek's mud for exploring and restored another with dad and friends to water ski. At the family's nine idyllic acres up North he boated, floated and hunted. His crew of "the boys" he considered family and stayed true to them throughout his life. His quick wit, sense of humor and fun brightened many gatherings, even during difficult times. He shared his wisdom humbly.
Tom attended the Hall of the Divine Child and graduated from Monroe Catholic Central. He dedicated his life to the farming community he loved, also working for many years as a heavy equipment operator with Tube City/ IMS and driving semi-trucks. He was a member of the Monroe County Farm Bureau. Passionate about the five generations of Brancheau Farms, Tom grew wheat, corn, soybeans, hay, and sugar beets. He took great pride in his work and took deep satisfaction in mentoring R.J. Masserant, like a son, for ten years in the farming and hay business.
In 2024, Tom retired to farm and RV Florida adventures with his co-pilot sister Kathy to meet up with mom and the family. He was an avid fan of farming movies, westerns, and the TV show 'The Incredible Dr. Pol'. He enjoyed "Cars" and timed races with the little ones.
Thomas Floyd Brancheau, aged 66, of Newport, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, with his sisters and mother in prayer at his bedside. His passing was preceded by his father: Floyd Brancheau; his sister; Trina Louise Brancheau; and brother-in-law: Michael Loveridge.

I wish to extend my condolences. Tom will be sorely missed.
I worked with Tom for 15 years, he was very good at whatever task he was asked to do. Always very reliable. Great at farming. Bragged of the good breakfasts at his Mom's.
We talked of retirement dreams and I retired first. Al and I moved to Florida and looked forward to seeing Tom when he came down. Rest I Peace my friend.

My condolences to Tom´s family. I worked with Tom at Macsteel/Gerdau Speciality Steel. Anytime we needed anything from the steel side Tom was there. We had many conversations over the last few years about retirement and what we were going to do. I´m still shocked and am so sorry, earth has loss a wonderful, hard working and one heck of an heavy equipment operator! God has gained a special individual in Heaven RIP Tom and Godspeed.
