Thomas Michael Breen (March 30, 1946-July 7, 2025)
Thomas Michael Breen, a beloved husband and Dad passed away on July 7, 2025. Thomas Michael was a model to his family for hard work and service. He served in the US Navy on the USS Saratoga, worked for over thirty years as a machine operator and was a dedicated basketball coach for numerous CYO, high school and AAU teams for decades. After "retirement" he served special needs students as a paraprofessional for the Garnet Valley School District while selflessly serving for almost a decade across two separate terms on the Board of Directors for the Foxfield community. He was a pillar of strength, integrity, and commitment to his family, friends and community.
Thomas Michael Breen was born in Jackson, Tennessee to Elsie and James Breen. He grew up surrounded by his siblings and a rotating cast of pets. He had endless stories of his formative years in Jackson, which were the foundation of his deep love of family, animals and his incredible work ethic. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Jackson, TN and graduated from Subiaco Academy before entering the Navy. While docked in Philadelphia, he met the first love of his life, Joyce. They raised two children in Aston, spent countless vacations in Wildwood, NJ and spent over thirty five years together surrounded by friends and family.
He shared many happy years of marriage with his first wife, Joyce, who passed away in 2005. He was blessed to find love again and spent seventeen wonderful years with his devoted wife, Patricia, who survives him. Pat and Tom's love and dedication to each other radiated hope for finding love again and they enjoyed many years of travel and fun with their friends and family.
Thomas Michael loved playing golf and always tried to "shoot the weather" when he played countless rounds with the Gormley cousins and his friends. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal's fan and a diehard Notre Dame sports fan, and in the winter, his TV only played college basketball!
Thomas Michael Breen deeply loved and was the proud father of Joy and Jim. He loved being a "Pop Pop" to his grandchildren Vivian, Shea and Nolan.
Thomas Michael was preceded in death by his parents Elsie and James, his sister Elsie, and his first wife, Joyce. He is survived by his wife Patricia, daughter Joy and son James (Colleen), his grandchildren Vivian, Sheamus and Nolan, his siblings James (Mary Jo), Mary (Fitts) his twin sister and Dan (Linda) and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at St. John Fisher Catholic Church (4225 Chichester Ave Boothwyn, PA 19061) at 9:45 am on Friday July 11 and the Funeral Mass will be immediately following at 11am. Interment Private. Donations may be made to The National Centre for Padre Pio (111 Barto Road, Barto PA, 19504). Arrangements:jnelsonrigbyfh.com
