Thomas Brown Obituary

Brown, Thomas S.
DELMAR - Thomas Stephen Brown, a devoted husband, proud father, and cherished grandfather, passed away suddenly on January 13, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Sue Ann Brown (née Lamantia); sons, Gregory T. Brown (Christine), Christopher M. Brown (Sophie), Brad J. Colacino (Amanda Kukle), and Jason P. Colacino; his six grandchildren, Cecelia R. Brown, William G. Brown, Clara M. Brown, Henry L. Colacino, Riley F. Colacino, and Emilia M. Brown; his siblings, Stephen Brown (Peggy), Christine Weidman (James), and Kathleen Shevlin; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Wayne S. Brown and Ida Brown (née Bruno); and his brother-in-law, Thomas Shevlin.
Tom was born in Rochester, N.Y., on February 9, 1950. A graduate of Eastridge High School, he earned both his undergraduate and master's degrees from Rochester Institute of Technology, working his way through school along the way. He built a distinguished career in healthcare, beginning in 1974, with roles at Blue Cross, Novalis, Value Options, and Fidelis HealthCare, where he retired in January 2020, as Chief Administrative Officer.
Outside of the office, Tom loved cars and never missed the chance to strike up a conversation with a fellow enthusiast. He enjoyed traveling with Sue Ann throughout Europe, from the British Isles to the Alps and the Mediterranean Coast; and had a lifelong love of music, especially the Beatles, whose lyrics he could quote with ease. A leader and role model, Tom led by example throughout his life and will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. His greatest joy in life came in the presence of his grandchildren, alongside his partner and soulmate, in a house full of love and laughter.
Visitation will be held at Applebee Funeral Home, in Delmar, N.Y., on Friday, January 23, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, in Delmar, on Saturday, January 24, at 10:00 a.m.

My deepest sympathy to my dear friend Sue Ann and the entire Brown family. I had the privilege and honor to work under Tom Brown's direction for many years. Tom lead by example. His brilliance, integrity, strong work ethic and genuine concern for the well-being of his staff earned Tom tremendous respect throughout his successful career. He was a mentor to many and his strive for perfection was a true inspiration to his colleagues. RIP Tom Brown.

The world lost a very good man. My condolences to Sue Ann and Tom's family during this difficult time. I am saddened for your loss and please know that you be should be proud of Tom's incredible impact on the Fidelis mission and its people.

Over the years as a colleague at Fidelis, I heard Tom speak with great pride about his family so I am not surprised to read that Tom was "a devoted husband, proud father, and cherished grandfather". Tom was a man filled with integrity and humility who consistently sought the right answer to help our members. Tom was a servant leader who was generous with his time and talents in developing the next generation of leaders. He leaves a lasting legacy that he was fortunate to experience first hand a few months ago. I was lucky enough to thank him that night for his contributions, sacrifices and the positive influence he had on so many people.

I will cherish our last couple of conversations and will mourn the loss of a good man. RIP, my friend.
