Thomas Camasso Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ciavarelli Family Funeral Home and Crematory - Ambler on Jul. 21, 2024.
Thomas Ralph Camasso was born on June 20, 1941, and passed away peacefully on July 19, 2024. "Tom" to his friends, he was the son of the late Ralph and Alberta (Lepera) Camasso of Conshohocken, Pennsylvania and beloved husband of Helga (Peleikis) Camasso, who he met while serving in the US Army 8th Airborne Infantry Division as a paratrooper and military police officer in Germany in the early 1960's.
Tom attended St. Matthew's High School in Conshohocken where he played football. Later, after his military service, he and Helga raised their young family in Blue Bell, PA where Tom worked full time while attending La Salle University at night, becoming the first of his family to graduate from college. Tom and Helga prioritized education and encouraged their daughters to challenge themselves. Tom had a long career as a corporate accountant, eventually retiring from Ashers Chocolate Company and relocating to Pennsburg, PA and later Spring Hill, Florida.
Tom enjoyed sports and coached his daughters' softball teams. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed skiing, barbecuing, following the stock market, working on the house and yard, vacationing with family and friends and most importantly he cherished his five grandchildren and took great interest in their activities and education. Tom was also known for his good humor and love of a spirited political debate. Tom embraced Helga's German heritage and was her loving caregiver at times of illness.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Helga, daughters Dr. Karen Camasso of Bay Village, OH and Kathy Camasso Galvin (Matthew) of Belle Mead, NJ and grandchildren Katie Richardson, Thomas, Emily, Andrew and Anna Galvin, brother Ralph Camasso (Maureen) of Southbury, CT and Spring Hill, FL, sister Patricia "Pat" Dempsey (Joe) of Conshohocken, and six nieces and nephews whom he also adored.
Relatives and friends are invited to Tom's Funeral Mass on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Helena Church, 1489 Dekalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422. A viewing will be held from 10:00-11:00AM at the Church prior to the service. Interment will be held at a later date at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
