Thomas Colley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Niles on Mar. 16, 2026.
Thomas Henry Colley, a cherished family man and respected member of his community, passed away at the age of 77 on March 14, 2026, in Dowagiac, Michigan, due to natural causes. Born on November 10, 1948, in South Bend, Indiana, Thomas was the beloved son of the late Thomas H. and Betty (Kohler) Colley. His life was a testament to the values of kindness, handiness, and friendliness, which he embodied in every interaction.

In 1973, Thomas united in marriage with his loving wife, Donna Stanton, who preceded him in death. The legacy of their love continues through his children, Thomas (Carrie) Colley, Kelly (Sean) Mahon, Travis (Sunny) Colley, and Matthew (Jeannie) Colley. He was a doting grandfather to fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride. Thomas's life was further enriched by his siblings, Bryon (Lynn) Colley, Mark (Carla) Colley, Linda Carpenter, Kawanna (Larry) Stoker, and Jackie (Jim) Lawrence, all of whom shared in the journey of his life's story.

Thomas's work ethic was as strong as his character. He spent many years in manufacturing, where his dedication and skill were evident to all who worked alongside him. In his later years, he found great satisfaction in working with his sons, passing on his knowledge and witnessing their growth both personally and professionally.

A man of faith, Thomas lived his Christian beliefs through his actions, offering help and hospitality to anyone in need. An avid outdoorsman, Thomas relished the time he spent in nature. Whether he was hunting, fishing, trapping, or mushroom hunting, he was in his element. His love for bowling and organizing family fish fry events brought him and his loved ones together, creating memories that will continue to warm their hearts.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Hidden Acres 50582 Pleasant St, Dowagiac, Michigan 49047.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church, 604 E 3rd Street, Lawton, Michigan. A private interment will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Niles. www.BrownFuneralHomeNiles.com.
