Thomas Condie Obituary

Thomas Gideon Condie was born on December 2, 1944, in Preston, Idaho, to Dolan B. Condie and Ada Boyle Condie. He was one of two children, with an 18-year age difference between himself and his older brother, Dolan. Both of Tom's parents were dedicated school teachers in Conda, Idaho, where Tom lived for his first four years before the family moved back to Preston. He remained in Preston through his high school years and graduated from Preston High School in 1963.

Tom was an active student. He played basketball in Elementary School, at the Junior High School and at Preston High School and was also involved in the school band, where he played the saxophone. Along with several friends, he formed a band that performed at special events. Tom loved to joke that he graduated with a "PHD"-a Preston High Diploma.

During summers, Tom spent much of his time working alongside his father on the family farm. Though he was a loyal University of Utah fan-thanks to his brother playing basketball there-Tom chose to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

On the first day of school at BYU, Tom met his future wife, Linda Jean Hall of Twin Falls, Idaho while visiting some of his good friends from Preston. For Linda, it was love at first sight; for Tom, it took a little longer-but by the end of their sophomore year, they knew they belonged together. They were married on September 9, 1966, in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Tom and Linda returned to BYU to complete their schooling. Linda graduated from BYU in 1968. Tom changed his major from history education to accounting, which added an extra year to his studies. Near the end of his senior year, with only months left before graduation, Tom was drafted for the Vietnam War. After contacting the draft board in Preston, he was granted permission to finish school if he joined the National Guard. He secured a position with the Buhl, Idaho National Guard.

Tom and Linda moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, where they lived with Linda's family while Tom attended Army boot camp at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Thankfully, the Vietnam conflict was concluded before he had to deploy.

Before leaving, Tom secured an accounting position with Riddle, Roth & Evans, ensuring employment upon his return. Eventually, he owned his own accounting firm. Twin Falls became their home for the next 52 years.

Together, Tom and Linda raised five children: Jennifer, Stephanie, Andrea, Shaun, and Christopher. Tom was a devoted husband and father and a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings, including Elders Quorum President, Young Men's President, Bishopric Counselor, and High Council member.

Tom found great joy in spending time with his family and friends. He loved taking his family on beach vacations, trips to Sun Valley to ski, and scuba diving adventures in Mexico. He also cherished his weekly Friday game nights with friends, where laughter, competition, and lasting friendships were always present.

Tom loved sports throughout his life. He was an avid racquetball player and continued playing basketball on church teams for many years. He also developed a strong interest in civic service and served on the Twin Falls City Council for eight years, including two years as Mayor from 1990 to 1992.

In 1993, Tom was involved in a severe car accident that resulted in a broken neck and brain injury. Despite this life-altering event, he recovered and returned to work. He continued working until 1997, when he was declared disabled.

In 2020, Tom and Linda moved from their longtime Twin Falls home to Rexburg, Idaho, to live with their daughter Stephanie and her husband, Derek Fay. Linda is grateful for this time they have lived in Rexburg being close to family.

Tom's health declined in recent years, and on December 27, 2025, he returned peacefully to his Father in Heaven and Savior, surrounded by family. We find comfort knowing he was joyfully reunited with loved ones who preceded him in death, especially his beloved daughter Jennifer.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Linda; his children Stephanie (Derek), Andrea, Shaun (Teagan), and Christopher (Whitney); 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Tom was a kind, loving man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was deeply loved and appreciated by all who knew him and lived a life full of meaningful experiences. He will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Madison County Hospital and Carriage Cove in Rexburg for their exceptional care during Tom's final weeks.

We love you, Tom-husband, father, grandfather-and your legacy will live on in the lives you touched.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 3rd, 2025 at the Twin Falls LDS Building at 421 Maurice St., Twin Falls, ID 83301. The family will receive family and friends on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. prior to services.

Please send flowers or condolences to the LDS church at 421 Maurice St in Twin Falls (same as the memorial service) on Saturday morning. Your kindness and support are deeply appreciated by the family.
