Thomas Scott Conroy

Thomas "Scott" Conroy was born on November 5th, 1962 to Tom and Ann Conroy in Valentine, Nebraska. Thomas made his journey to the Spirit World on December 11, 2023 at his home in Rapid City, SD.
Scott attended elementary and middle school in Pine Ridge and graduated from Pine Ridge High School in 1981. Thomas came from a long line of warriors and in 1984 he decided to join the United States Marine Corps. He was then stationed in Okinawa, Japan. In 1986, he received orders to Twentynine Palms, California. Thomas earned many commendations during his time in service. He was Marine of the month for eleven months running and Marine of the quarter four times. This was for his outstanding performance. Thomas was nominated by Senator Tom Daschle to serve as Honor Guard at the White House. Thomas was Honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1989 and he later joined the National Guard full-time. Thomas was activated in November 1990 to serve in the Gulf War. He fought bravely until he returned in June of 1991. In June of 2002, he was then deployed to Kuwait. Thomas returned in February 2003. Thomas served a total of 31 years and 8 months to United States military. He retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class/ E-7.
Thomas always had a smile on his face. He would light up the room with his laughter and sense of humor. Scott loved spending time and visiting with his children and grandchildren.
Thomas is survived by his parents, Thomas and Ann Conroy; his wife, Michele Conroy; sister, LaFawn Conroy; brother, Michael Conroy; his daughter's, Rebecca Conroy, Jessica Conroy and Talona Gonzalez; his son's Cody Conroy and Aaron Kamarad; grandchildren, Mason Red Leaf, Braddock Red Leaf, Dylan Red Leaf, Khloe Brown, Terry Brown, J'Reiton Roubideaux and Abel Gonzalez; aunt, Joann Conroy; and uncle, Chuck Conroy.
Thomas was preceded in death by his sister, Janine Louise Conroy; aunts Elma Conroy/ Valandra and Penny Janis/Conroy; grandparents, Edward and Harriet Ross, Tom and Janette Conroy, Martin and Louise Shangreaux and numerous cousins and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be James Red Cloud, Jeremy Ringing Shield, Steve Shangreau, Sam Shangreau, Brad Conroy, Wade Stebbins, Abel Gonzalez, and Bill White.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Pine Ridge Thorpes Class of '81 Football Team, All Military Brothers & Sisters who he served with, and All Relatives & Friends.
Wake Services: One night wake service starting at 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 17, 2023 at the Pine Ridge High School Gymnasium in Pine Ridge, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM followed by military roll call.
Funeral Services: 9:00 AM, Monday, December 18, 2023 at the Pine Ridge High School Gymnasium in Pine Ridge, SD
