Thomas M. Corwin, 84, passed away on November 23, 2023. He was born on January 10, 1939 in Munith, MI.
Tom is preceded in passing by his parents, O.D. Corwin and Margaret Isabelle (Breece) Corwin; siblings Lenorabelle Corwin, Margaret Corwin, Claude Corwin and Maynard Corwin.
He is survived by his two daughters, Allison Mills and Leslie Corwin; sister, Kathleen Peters; grandchildren, Elizabeth Joppie and Thomas Mills; great grandson, Reed Joppie, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Tom served his country honorably in the US Air Force for four years. He devoted his life to serving the community as a police officer retiring after serving 27 years from the Jackson County Sheriff Department as Detective Sergeant.
Tom had a passion for racing and breeding horses on his farm. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, trapping, and gardening. He enjoyed working with his hands in carpentry, doing repairs, and even building houses. He enjoyed traveling to his cabin up north to fish and relax with family and friends. He had a great love for his dogs that always traveled with him wherever he went. He was great at storytelling and telling jokes. He enjoyed feeding and watching the wildlife on his farm.
Tom served as mentor, friend, confidant and protector of many and will be greatly missed.

today i learned of the passing of Tom. i grew up in gregory mich where he had lived when young, he was about 7 yrs older that me. i knew many of the family members and Tom. he and i got together when i was home on leave from the air force in 1968. when i got out of the service in 1969 Tom managed to get me hired in at the jackson county sheriff dept the same day i got hired in with the livingston county sheriff dept, unfortunately i had traveled to jackson toadvise i had been hired at Livingston County and to let Tom know how much i appreciated his effort. around 2022 i wrote a letter to his whipple address but didnt hear back, i hoped he wasnt ill. he was a great guy and friend. i know what Police work was like having served 51 years in Livingston County, Im sure he was always a great wingman with his partners. i bet he and i would have been great partners and i would have learned alot from him. i think of him often. HEY TOM SAVE ME A SEAT RIDING SHOTGUN.

Tom was a neighbor and friend for over 30 years. He was a very unique individual and I say that with respect and admiration. He honorably served our country, state and community with sacrifice and honor. He never pulled punches (literally when need be and figuratively). Though some thought of him as gruff and scary, I know he had a servants heart if someone was genuinely in need and would lend a helping hand without hesitation.

To the Corwin family, I´m sorry to read that Tom passed away! I´ve known him for many years, especially in his law enforcement capacity! He served his country and county of Jackson honorably. May he rest in peace! God bless! Jim Quillen
