Thomas Alfred Cote, 74, of Livermore Falls, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Thom was born on March 22, 1951, in
Livermore Falls, Maine, to Joseph "Roland" Cote and Elda Pineau Cote. He attended Saint Rose Catholic School and graduated from Livermore Falls
High School in 1969.
On July 15, 1972, Thom married the love of his life, Mary Sue Merrill. Together they shared 53 years of marriage, building a life rooted in family and love.
Thom worked as a member of Local Union 14 at International Paper Company, for 18 years. He then returned to college and became a master heating technician. In 1989, he purchased Bill's
Complete Heating, a business he ran with pride and integrity, serving his community for 22 years.
Known lovingly as "Pa," Thom was a true family man, and was a constant presence in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He taught them how to fish, make fires, roast marshmallows,
ride bikes, explore the woods, paddle canoes, and appreciate the beauty of nature. Summers spent "up to camp" on Moxie Lake and Red Camp created memories that will live on for generations.
Thom had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone in need. He showed up for his family, and friends. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a man whose quiet strength and unconditional love touched all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Thom is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Cote of Livermore Falls; his children, Stacey Damon and her husband Greg of Belgrade, Casey Cote and his wife Tricia of Kennebunk, and Mikki Voter and her husband Steve of Rangeley. He was a proud "PA" to eight grandchildren: Mariel Damon and her wife Ashley of Belgrade, Conor Damon of Belgrade, Preston and Adriana Cote of Kennebunk, and Eli Maynard, Gabrielle, Carson, and Adeline Voter of Rangeley.
He is also survived by his siblings: Carol Perreault of Jay, Sue Bowen of Oxford, Vicki Cyr and her husband Paul of South Carolina, and Geoffrey Cote and his wife Bernice of Farmington. Also by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Elda Cote; his brothers, Bill Cote and Richard Cote; and his sisters, Sandy Doughty and Patricia Punch.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff at Andwell Hospice House in Auburn, Maine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Andwell Hospice
House in Thom's honor, as a way to thank them for the extraordinary care they gave and to support other families walking a similar journey.
Friends and family are invited to a light luncheon to honor Thom, at the VFW, Jay ME, Sunday January 25th from 11:00am-2pm. Please come and share all your stories!
