It is with great sadness, but profound love, that the family of David Lear announces his untimely passing on September 11, 2025 at the age of 66.
He will be greatly missed by his two children, Morgan Lear-Leardi and Christian Lear; his erstwhile wife and mother of his children, Kelen Lear; his three grandchildren, whom he loved dearly; as well as by his son-in-law, Matthew Leardi, and daughter-in-law, Angeles Estrada Lear.
David grew up in Pineville, North Carolina in the Charlotte-area. His warmhearted charm was apparent to anyone who knew David well. At an early age, he developed a passion for music that would end up guiding nearly every endeavor in his life. From his youth through his early-30s, he dedicated himself to music. Playing in several bands during those years, he was a ceaseless student and generous teacher of music.
His kind nature radiated in all settings, and he developed deep bonds with so many fortunate individuals. Eventually settling down in the Columbia-area in South Carolina, David dedicated himself fully to his family and close friends. The impact he had on his loved ones was unmatched. He provided inexhaustible warmth, love, humor, and strength to those in his life.
David was also a committed airport lineman and Quality Assurance Manager at Columbia Aviation in West Columbia, South Carolina. He worked for Columbia Aviation since March 1990, demonstrating his dedication and diligent character. While working tirelessly and maintaining an unwavering commitment to his most important role as a father, David additionally achieved the remarkable accomplishment of becoming a licensed private pilot.
A Visitation and Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation at 200 State State Street, West Columbia, South Carolina on Saturday, September 27, 2025 starting at 10:00 A.M.
