William L. “Bill” Lear, 72, of Altoona, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026, at the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center. He was born on September 25, 1953, in Altoona, son of the late Charles F. and Helen L. (Musselman) Lear. Surviving is his loving wife of 37 years Deborah A. (Lenhart) Lear. Also surviving is his daughter, Rene’ Allison (John), 4 sons, Scott Allison, Joshua, Michael, and Matthew Lear; 4 grandchildren, Colin, Taylor, Myah Lear, and Devyn Winrick; several nieces, nephews, and his dog Sarge. Bill was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Don and Guy Lear, and by his three dogs, Zeus, Xena, and Miko. Bill served in the US. Air Force, retired from the Altoona Area School District working in the Maintenance department, and owned and operated Frank and D’s Pub, Food, & 6 Packs in Altoona. All services will be privately held at the convenience of his family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central PA Humane Society 1837 E.
