Thomas "Tom" David, 57, of Sugar Grove, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022. He was born to Jack and Judy (Scherrer) David on March 17, 1965, in Burlington, WI. Tom graduated from St. Mary's High School (Class of 1983). Following high school, he went on to graduate from UW-Eau Claire (Class of 1988), where he met the love of his life, Julie (Galuska). They were married in 1991.
What made Tom special? Well, to accurately explain this would require probably the longest obituary ever (almost as long as Tom's best man speech for his brother, Mike), so we will spare you most of the details.
In as few words as possible, it was this: Tom was one-of-a-kind. He was one of the most loving, kind-hearted, and outgoing people you would ever meet. He cared for others significantly more than he cared for himself. Per his wife, Julie, he was widely known to spend their per diem money on work vacations on other people-rather than on a fun excursion for the two of them. He was generous beyond belief (like the time Tom donated his airline points to a local country singer he barely knew, so the singer could chase his dream in Nashville), and when it came to ordering appetizers at dinner, his kids always knew to look to him.
Tom was a tremendous storyteller. While the stories were all true (the only one still up in the air is whether he actually dunked a basketball that one time-don't worry, we will let you have that one, Dad), he kept you on your toes by always finding a way to embellish the story just a touch. He definitely had his favorite stories, like the time he was the hero who miraculously saved his son, Brett, who was stuck in a hollow log as a little kid. However, whether you were hearing one of his stories for the first time or the 100th, there was always intrigue because you never quite knew how the details would play out each time around. His knack for storytelling probably contributed to his successful medical sales career. He excelled in his career, moving from a sales rep to a vice-president. He led sales teams at multiple companies, including 3Ci, Cardinal Health, and IPA. Beyond that, he also loved cars and movies. One would often find him repeating lines to Tommy Boy ("Fat guy in a little coat") or Dumb & Dumber ("So you're saying there's a chance ").
Before this goes any further, Tom would be disappointed if we didn't acknowledge how big of a Packers fan he was. Raising a family in Illinois, Tom (and Julie) made it abundantly clear that while there weren't many rules living in the David house, there was one that was nonnegotiable: You must be a Packer fan.
While the Packers were important to Tom, let it not be forgotten what mattered to Tom most of all-his family. Although he shared a birthday with his wife, Julie, he was quick to point out what really mattered was that it was Julie's birthday (not his). There was nothing that Tom looked forward to more than supporting his kids, especially in sports. (Yes, he did get ejected from a high school basketball game, but I'm sure if you were to ask him, it was a bad call). He was extraordinarily proud of his three boys, and there was nothing that he wouldn't do for them.
These are the things that made Tom, Tom.
He cared for others more than he cared for himself. He was an incredible storyteller as well as an avid Packers fan, but most importantly, he loved his family more than anything in the world.
As a husband, father, son, uncle, and friend to so many, Tom was truly one-of-a-kind. He will surely be missed but never forgotten.
Tom is survived by his wife, Julie David, Sugar Grove, IL; sons, Drew (Elise DeNoyer) David, Milwaukee, WI, Ryan (Lyndsey Bassler) David, Milwaukee, WI, and Brett David, Augustana College; parents, Jack and Judy David, Burlington, WI; brothers, Jerry (Peggy) David, Franklin, WI, and Mike (Dodi) David, Milwaukee, WI, as well as several nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Drive, Sugar Grove, IL 60554. There will also be a short visitation preceding the funeral mass at St. Katharine Drexel on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 8S055 Dugan Road, Sugar Grove, IL 60554. Burial will be private.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had the privilege of working with Tom at Tri-anim (Sarnova) He was hands down all of our favorite member of that team and I am so sad to hear of his passing. I never met any of his family but feel like I knew you because of his stories- so many great stories, he talked about you a lot! He was a brilliant leader who could make anyone feel at ease and we all really appreciated his support and his humor. I am so very sorry and my sincere condolences to all of you.

Tom always showed great kindness and respect to both his customers and colleagues and had such a fun-filled approach to all he encountered...this was second only to the devotion and incredible love he had for his Wife and 3 boys! I will miss you so much, TD, and pray you are at peace and that your adoring Family finds solace and support knowing what a great man you were to so many.
