Thomas Edger Davis of Reading passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, May 16, 2016 at Lahey Hospital in Burlington. He was 62 years of age. Tommy was granted his angel wings after a long battle with numerous health problems. He was peacefully surrounded by his his loving family. Born on March 2nd, 1954 in Winchester, Thomas was the loving son of the late Edgar J. Davis and Katherine M. (Byrne) Davis. Thomas was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin & friend. He will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him. From Tommy's early years at Washington Park with the neighborhood kids, to high school sports, and later playing softball; he was a great teammate and friend for life to all he played with. Tommy's love of sports wasn't just in playing them; he was a diehard New England fan. He will bring a smile to the faces of all whom had the honor of calling him teammate or friend when they think of Him. Tommy moved from the Reading area to Newburyport when he found the love of his life. There he became not only a dedicated husband but a loving father and grandfather. He made every effort to be available to his family for any of their needs and was always in the stands for the kids' games and events, building memories and foundations with them that they will carry on throughout their years. Tommy will be remembered by those who knew him for his love of life. His smile was contagious, and his laughter infectious. He glided through life with the utmost respect for others. Thomas was the beloved husband of Sue (Engstrom) Davis. He was the devoted father of Duane Clarke, Jason Clarke and wife Gioia, and Janna Clarke. The cherished grandfather of Ashton, Jason, and Kaylan. Thomas was the dear brother to John Davis and wife Shirley and Edgar Davis. He was the loving uncle of Donna and Johnny and also cousin of Janice Thomson. Tom was a big brother to me, living in the Washington park area of Sweetser ave. He was always supportive of my playing all sports, but I especially remember the time after my senior year Thanksgiving Day game when I returned a touch down for 101 yards from the endzone. He took the time to call me on the phone and congratulate me on a fantastic interception return. At this time in life there was 2 landline phones in the house and my mother answered and said it's for you John, its Tom Davis. Well, he was so excited about it, it sent a flash of excitement through me, one of honor and praise from the big "T" Bone. I always looked up to him as he was a great baseball player and I was the bat boy when he played. Life is a blessing of the people we meet in life. Tom was more than a blessing to me, and I will always remember how supportive he was to me growing up. Tom thank you for all you were. I'm sure the good Lord has a fine place for you in heaven, sitting around talking sports and socializing with great friends.

Amen Tommy. John T McKenna - "johnny Mac".

My sincere condolences to the Davis family. Tommy was a good friend to my sister Claudette and brother-in-law John Murphy and although 6 years older than me, he always treated me with respect and acted like a big brother. He had a big heart and always a quick smile! I'm glad I knew him. Donna Zanni Washburn

John and Edgar,
I remember so vividly the great memories of growing up with you guys and Tom in "Mudville" and the Washington Park. Tom always treated me with respect, he was supportive and encouraging when I was learning baseball and basketball and all the sports that we had at Washington Park. I was his bat boy when he played for the Legion and the Reading REC's club. He even let me sit in on some of the card games to. With all the things that went on in the park including some of the not so good things, Tommy never let me get into to much trouble. He always had my best interest at heart. He had a good heart. He was a great guy. I will always remember the excitement in his voice when he took the time to call me on the phone, on Thanksgiving Day to congratulate me on my 101 yard touch down return to beat the Stoneham Spartans. I always knew that somehow Tommy knew that he had a big part in my achievement in sports and in life. He was an inspiration to me and his fun personality.

I will always remember him and speak well of him forever more.

Thanks, Tom. You will be missed.
