Tom Devlin of Pawleys Plantation (Pawleys Island, South Carolina) passed away unexpectedly on the evening of Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Tom was born on September 30, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York. He entered the United States Army in 1952 and fought in the Korean War until he was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant in 1954. After the Army, Tom attended and graduated from the RCA Institute in 1957 with a Certificate in Advanced Technology.
Tom married Joan Morales, who was also born in Brooklyn, on August 5, 1957. After working for the Curtiss Wright Corporation, he and Joan moved to Baltimore in 1958 to work for Martin Company (Martin Marietta) where he always said one of his most memorable career achievements was working on the Gemini Rocket Program.
In 1966, Tom went to work for Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Baltimore. He continued to work for Westinghouse until his retirement in 1996. His proudest career achievement at Westinghouse was being the program manager for the FB-111 US Air Force program. Tom also was a key member of a team responsible for establishing a manufacturing facility in Ireland.
Tom is survived by his wife Joan and his three children, Tom (wife, Jan), Valerie (husband, Jim) and Andrea (husband, Ron) as well as six grandchildren (Michael, Craig, Heather, Andrew, Sean and Ryan) and four great grandchildren (Max, Cade, Leo, and Mason).
Tom was an avid and accomplished golfer (hit a double eagle in 1988!) and a founding member of the Winters Run Golf Club in Bel Air, Maryland. His lifelong hobbies included bowling, cards (notably poker) and gardening. He especially valued his friendships with his poker groups, looking forward to his weekly games. His wit and intellectual guidance will be missed tremendously.
Visitation will be held on Saturday January 18, 2025, at 1pm at Burroughs Funeral Home. 3558 Old Kings Hwy Murrells Inlet SC, 29576

Tom was a wonderful friend to my husband Dennis who passed away in 2022. Since then, Tom often asked how I was doing. He loved his family deeply, and enjoyed golf greatly. Denny and Tom are swapping golf stories right now. RIP Tom. My condolences to the Devlin family. Kathy
