It is with great sadness and extremely heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Anthony DiPaolo, 72, of Calabash, NC. "Tom" was a devoted and loving husband, father and Pops and passed away September 26, 2023.
Tom was born November 5, 1950 in Jersey City, NJ and graduated from Dickinson High School, Jersey City, NJ. Immediately after high school, Tom took a job with the Jersey Journal as a printer and through hard work and dedication, became their night foreman. After decades with the Jersey Journal, Tom then worked for Merrill, a financial printing firm in Union, NJ, where he stayed until retirement.
Tom was an avid photographer, a shark at cards, and could build or fix just about anything. He was predeceased by his parents, Jimmy and Ann DiPaolo. He is survived by wife Anna, sons Thomas (Marisa) and Richard, step-daughter Alesy (Sasha), step-daughter Ekaterina and his grandchildren Sophia, Thomas, Anthony, Samantha, Daniel, Milana, Paulina, brother Dr. Vincent DiPaolo (Robbie), sister Dolores Lombardi (Joseph), nieces, nephews, and many family friends.
Tom loved his family and friends very much and always had a joke at the ready. He was one of a kind and will be sorely missed by all.
There will be a Celebration of Life in Cranford, NJ at a later date.
A private memorial service will be held in North Carolina on Tuesday 10/3/23.

To my dear friend, Tommy.
Tommy and I worked together at the Jersey Journal. After I left, we kept in contact by mailing Christmas cards every year since. I always look forward to hearing from him. He taught me about raising tropical fish. I had and have great respect for Tommy. I know he is in a good place but I will miss you, Tommy. I will never forget our Christmas cards, you always beat me first.
Your friend,
Antonio Mercado

I had not seem Tom since the 70's. We grew up together in Jersey City. I wished I had seen him again. We were good friends growing up, but then life pulled us all apart. Was so sorry to find this in the internet.

We are so sorry. The obituary was accurate; he will be sorely missed by family and friends and was "one of a kind".

I was devastated when Anna told me the news. Tom and I go back over 40 years. I used to enjoy our fishing trips and hanging out at Canavan's.
Tom and I talked regularly about the fun we had and just to touch base and see how he was feeling.
Tom was like a brother, I will miss him emmensely. RIP brother, we all miss you very much.
