Thomas Doctor

Poland - Thomas Doctor, 81, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025 at the Cleveland Clinic after a brief illness.
He was born March 20, 1944 in Beaver Falls, PA, son of Henry and Juliet Doctor. After graduating from Beaver Falls High School, Tom attended Grove City College, graduating in 1966 with a degree in mathematics. After graduation, Tom worked for IBM in Youngstown. He then transitioned his career to Goodyear Aerospace in Akron and eventually to Youngstown State University. At YSU, he served as the Director of the Computer Center and Network Services, and was an instructor of mathematics. He retired from YSU in 2005 and continued to teach part-time until 2020.
More than anything, Tom loved his family, God, and country. At his home on Bishop Rd., he took pride in creating a backyard sanctuary for his family and friends. His favorite days were spent outdoors pruning bushes, planting flowers, and relaxing by the pool. His home was the focal point of countless birthdays, picnics, holidays, and even weddings. Tom was most proud of his children, his wife, and their accomplishments; always the first to share in their successes and comfort them in adversity. Nothing made him happier than having his family together in one place, especially on family vacations. He was also known for his kind, gentle spirit, and in his later years, even his humor. Tom was the proverbial rock of the family and his absence will be felt deeply by many.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kelly Doctor; his sons, Jason T. Doctor and Shon J. Douctre; his daughters, Dana L. Doctor (Evan Vitiello), Camryn A. Doctor (Dylan King), and Avery Z. Doctor; and his grandchildren, Michael T. Doctor and Lexie Douctre. He also leaves behind his sisters Eleanor W. Moore and Carol J. Bowman, as well as his beloved French Bulldog, Ronan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael D. Doctor; and first wife, Carol H. Doctor.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the MICU team at the Cleveland Clinic for their kindness, compassion, and endless effort in his care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project, two of his favorite charities.
Friends may call on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman, and again on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. A funeral service will be held beginning at 10:00 a.m., and he will be laid to rest at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
