Thomas 'Tom' S. Donaldson, 83, of Duluth, died Saturday December 7, 2024, at Beehive Memory Care surrounded by his family.
Tom was born in Shawano, WI on Nov. 15, 1941, the son of Raymond and Rosalee (Dowen) Donaldson.
He served his country in the U.S. Army earning the rank of First Lieutenant. He graduated from UW Madison with a bachelor's degree in bacteriology.
Tom worked most of his career for Tom's Foods and later retired from the FDA as a food inspector. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, the American Legion and Superior Elk's Lodge.
Tom was an avid sports fan and loved the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, and Milwaukee Brewers, as well as watching his grandchildren's sporting events.
Tom enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cribbage, fishing, and helping his son-in-law brew beer. He also enjoyed gardening, visiting the Boundary Waters, and was an excellent watercolor artist. He was very selfless and always willing to help others, from small handyman jobs to large projects. He was a kind, generous, and humble man, with an infectious smile. He will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Linda (Johnson) Donaldson.
Tom is survived by his wife, Bev (Hill) Donaldson of Duluth; children, Scott (Julianna) Donaldson of Atlanta, GA, Laura (Jason) Hagan of Savannah, GA, and Beth (Matt) Christiansen of Savannah, GA; step-children, Jane (David) Worley of Duluth, Amy ( Jameel Abdur-Rafia) Hill of Oak Park, IL, and Steven (Vicki) Hill of Madison; sister, Nancy Rand; aunt, Doris Donaldson of Florida; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday Dec. 14th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1924 Wyoming Ave., Superior with Pastor Sean Koos as officiant.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.
If desired, memorials may be made in Tom's Name to Our Saviors Lutheran Church.
