Ronald Gregory Markon, 82, longtime Maple, WI resident, passed away surrounded by loving family on August 20, 2025 at Aspirus St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN. He was born in Superior in February, 1943 to Joseph and Louise (Granquist) Markon.

He married Audrey Parenteau in 1966, and they celebrated 59 years together.

Ron served his country honorably as an Aircraft Ground Equipment Repairman with the 51st Fighter Interceptor Wing of the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Vietnam and Duluth.

Later on, as General Chairman of System Council 16 for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, he served on the Federal Railroad Safety Advisory Committee. He served as the Assistant Chief of the Parkland Volunteer Fire Department. He was a founding member of the Stuntz Township, MN Volunteer Fire Department. He served as president of both the Maple Telephone Company and Cooperative Services in Maple. He was a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Superior Council 499.

As an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing were some of his favorite activities. His love of the outdoors lives on in his children and grandchildren who continue to hunt, fish, camp and explore throughout the U.S. One of his favorite pastimes was playing cards with family and friends.

Ron is survived by his wife, Audrey; children: Matthew (Lynda) Markon, Rice Lake, MN, Joel Markon, South Range, WI, Tamara (Larry) Brown, Maple, WI, and Randall Markon, Maple, WI; grandchildren: Jessica Brown, Amanda (Rob) Bruening, Justin (Katy) Markon, Joseph (Alyssa Walli) Markon, Nathan (Kelsey) Markon, Steven (Hannah) Markon, Ryan Cauchon, and Natalie Markon; great-grandchildren: Louis Markon, Julianna Bruening, James Markon, and James Bruening; brothers George (Elaine) Markon and John (Ilza) Markon; sisters, Marjorie Markon and Francine Cieslicki, along with nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
