Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jones Funeral Home - Winchester on Jul. 17, 2024.
Thomas Ray Edens, 75, of Brucetown, Va, died Monday July 15, 2024 at Winchester Medical Center.
He was born July 19, 1948 in Winchester, VA, the son of Joseph Thomas Edens and Louise Stanley Edens. Tommy served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Army; he was a member of the American Legion Post 41, and the Civil War Roundtable of Charles Town, WV. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He treasured his short time being a member of Burnt Factory Methodist Church enjoying Pastor Steve's sermons and the warmth and friendliness from the congregation.
Tommy grew up on a farm in Clarke County and graduated from Clarke County High School and attended Lord Fairfax Community College. He enjoyed working in his garden and tending his flowers. Tommy was an avid civil war historian doing hours of research; anyone that spoke to him about the civil war knew they were in for a history lesson. He always loved a good joke, anytime he was around his friends and family jokes were always part of the moment.
Tommy married the love of his life Patricia Clowser on July22, 1969. He was a loving husband, father & grandfather, he was blessed to have three grandchildren and cherished the time he got to spend with them, he was one proud grandad!
Along with his wife Patti, he is survived by his children Travis D. Edens, and spouse Kendra of Middleway, WV, and Justin T. Edens, and spouse Alaine of Clearbrook, VA, three grandchildren, Jasper Edens and Evie Edens of Middleway, WV and London Edens of Clearbrook, VA. A brother, Bruce Edens of Gore, VA, and sisters, Bernice Elliott of Winchester, Ruby Orndoff of Gore, and Patricia L. Edens of Winchester and several nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Howard Edens, Stanley Edens, Elizabeth "Betty" Racer, Bobbi Burhite and Jean Montonera.
A celebration of life service will be held at Burnt Factory Methodist Church with the Rev. C. Steve Melester officiating on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 2:00 pm.
