Thomas Edwin Erickson, 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 27th 2025 at his home in Hubbard Lake, Michigan.
Tom was born in Tawas, Michigan, on December 11, 1952, to Edwin and Ann (Zuber) Erickson. From the start, he was someone who worked hard and figured things out for himself. He graduated from Ferris State University in 1975, which led to a long and proud career as a diesel mechanic in Flint, Michigan until his retirement in 2006.
Tom married the love of his life, Lynne Suchanek, on November 16, 1979. They shared 46 wonderful years together and celebrated their anniversary just days before his passing. Together, they created a beautiful life in Davison, Michigan where they raised their two children, Tommy and Abby.
Tom had a true gift for fixing just about anything, finding a good deal, and always having a new project in the works. He loved putting those skills to use to help others — whether it was fixing something that was broken or simply lending a hand. His kindness and generosity left a lasting impression on many friends.
When he wasn’t tinkering on projects, Tom could be found in his rocking chair on his deck overlooking Hubbard Lake listening to music and enjoying retirement with Lynne and their beloved dog, Groot. He loved to talk, tell stories, and connect with just about anyone he met. Tom had a big heart and an easygoing charm. He treated everyone with the same level of respect and kindness, regardless of the person’s esteem. He made everyone he met feel like a friend. He will be sorely missed by many.
Tom is survived by his wife, Lynne, children, Tommy Erickson (Ann McCarthy) and Abby (Brian) Mackey, three cherished grandchildren, Charlotte Mackey and Violet & Zachary Erickson. Siblings, Ruth (Gary) Barnes, David (Wynne) Erickson, Kathy(John) George, William Erickson and James Erickson. Brothers and sisters in-law: Craig & Barbara Suchanek, Jeanne & Bruce Montroy, Gail & Dan Krug, Bill & Gwen Suchanek. Numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, countless friends and wonderful neighbors.
A memorial will be held in the summer of 2026.
