Thomas Frank Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 3, 2025.
Thomas "Tom" Frank of Edgewater MD and Palm Beach Gardens FL passed away unexpectedly at Luminis Anne Arundel Medical Center on November 1, 2025 surrounded by family and friends. Tom was born to Walter Frank and Marie Richardson on May 26, 1947 in Lakewood, NJ. Tom's paternal grandfather was a major influence in his life, teaching him the values of focus and hard work. When Tom went into business for himself, he often relied on the lessons learned from his childhood experiences with his grandfather. Tom was proud of his New Jersey roots, returning throughout his life to visit family and friends. He graduated from Lakewood High School and went on to graduate from Northeastern University in Boston in 1966. Tom began his professional career working for Viking Yachts in New Jersey. While successful in the corporate world, he dreamed of owning his own business involving water and boats. He moved to Maryland and purchased Shady Oaks Marina in West River, where he sold yachts to an enthusiastic boating community. At times during his career, he was recognized as the largest dealer in the world selling Silverton, Carver, and Tiara yachts. Tom was respected throughout the industry as a man of integrity, grit and hard work. He was passionate about the boating industry and respected for his customer service and follow-through, which was indicative of his principles and values. He and his team were proud to provide excellent service, which resulted in many repeat boat buyers. Tom's customers became his friends, many of them who he continued to maintain relationships with until his death. Tom loved life and lived large. He had many passions that he shared with a wide group of friends. For Tom, being on the water was not just a hobby but a joy in life he shared between generations and with friends. Boat rides to St Michaels and surrounds, were a big part of every summer. He loved golfing, fishing and motorcycling and enjoyed his many trips with friends up and down the East Coast, Mid Atlantic and out West. The largest memory-maker was a trip with two of his best buddies from Maryland to the West Coast and back exploring our beautiful country, its national parks and experiencing nature. Tom was a born entertainer, a wonderful piano player and truly enjoyed entertaining friends and family at home with his wife Nancy. He lived his life fully so that he would be able to share the stories of his experiences; and a good story, to Tom, was worth sharing over and over again with anyone who would listen. He loved being Pop Pop, Unky, Dad, Tommy, and Tom. He showed up for his family, his friends and many others whose lives he touched. He was fiercely loyal. He was fun. He was funny. Anyone who knew him will remember his big beaming smile, as well as his aptitude for speech!! Tom was grateful for his successes in life and was generous in giving back to others in need, including local charities. Tom loved children, and as such, the hallmark of his philanthropy is the creation of the Tom and Nancy Frank Family Birth Center at Luminis Anne Arundel Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Nancy, (who he affectionately called "Sweet One"); his daughter Marni and son-in-law Scott; his granddaughters, Karrington and Evelyn; his sister Jean-Marie and her partner George DiLeo; his niece Trish and her husband Michael; his grandnieces Corina, Emily, Grace, and Samantha; his godson Patrick, and his many in-laws and relatives who loved him. In honor of his giving spirit and in lieu of flowers, you may donate in his name, to the Maryland Food Bank or the Luminis Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation. https://supportaamc.luminishealth.org/aamcfoundation mdfoodbank.org The funeral mass will be private.
