Thomas Stoddard Geddes Thomas (Tom) Stoddard Geddes of Niceville, Florida died peacefully at home on January 23, 2017 at the age of 86. Tom is survived by his wife, Jean DeNoon Geddes; his children, Jo Beth Stafford, and Jo Anne Robinson (John); his stepchildren, George Cassity (Elsie), Bob Cassity (Kimberly), Don Cassity (Anna) and Kathy Cassity Schmidt (Mark); his grandchildren, Shay Stafford Collins (John), Justin Thomas Robinson (Samantha), John Bradley Robinson (Michelle), and Jason Michael Robinson (Randi); his many grandchildren and many great grandchildren. His only remaining sibling is his sister Patricia (Pam) Thatcher of Buena Park, California. Tom is preceded in death by his first wife, Mona Sanders Geddes. Tom was born in Boise, Idaho to Jocelyn and Elmer Geddes. He was the youngest of four children. In 1947, he graduated from high school and joined the United States Navy. During his military service, Tom and his family were stationed in Key West, FL; French Morocco, South Africa; Millington, TN; Hawaii; Brunswick, GA; and Jacksonville, FL. He retired from the Navy after 22 years of service as an air traffic controller at the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. After military service, Tom began an 18 year career with the Aviation School at Ft. Rucker, Alabama as an Education Specialist. While in the military and at Ft. Rucker, Tom obtained a Bachelor and Master's Degree from Troy University. After retiring from civil service at Ft Rucker, Tom moved to his retirement home in Niceville, FL where he enjoyed playing golf. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Rosemont Baptist Church, 1601 27th St, Niceville, FL, with a reception to follow at the church. Reverend Doug Fannon will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tom's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your local Shriner's organization or St. Jude's Children Center. The family would like to thank staff and caregivers of Twin Cities Hospital, Emerald Coast Hospice, and Home Instead for their care and support of Tom and his family.
