Mary Angela Caylor Roling, affectionately known as Angie, passed away on March 5, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on November 3, 1944, Angie dedicated a significant portion of her life to academia and community service. She was a proud graduate of Troy University, furthering her education with a master's degree from Auburn University and ultimately earning her doctorate from the University of South Carolina.
For most of her professional career, Angie served with distinction at Troy University, where she retired as Associate Vice Chancellor for President of Institutional Research, Planning, and Effectiveness. Her contributions to the institution and the students she guided will remain a lasting part of her legacy.
Angie's passion extended beyond her professional endeavors. She cherished the joy of music and was an accomplished pianist, serving as the church pianist at Mt. Hilliard until approximately two years before her passing. Her musical talents led her to become an active member of the Music Study Club and PEO, where she shared her love for music and enriched the lives of those around her.
In her personal life, Angie found great joy in travel. She enjoyed adventurous journeys in her RV and loved cruising alongside her dear friend, Mitzy. These experiences brought her immense happiness and created lasting memories that she treasured.
She is survived by her daughter, Caylor Roling, and her husband, Paul Sklar; granddaughter Rosa Roling Sklar; and her brother, Jimmy Caylor, and his wife, Pat, along with several nieces and nephews.
Angie was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Roling; her parents, Jim Henry and Cornelia Caylor; and her sister, Sylvia Austin.
A visitation will be held in her honor on March 9, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mount Hilliard Methodist Church in Union Springs, Alabama, followed by a funeral service at the same location at 11:00 AM.
