Sybil Guy Obituary
Sybil Mercer Guy was born on November 23, 1936, and passed away peacefully at home on March 8, 2026. A devoted mother and cherished member of her community, Sybil is remembered as a wonderful mother and Gigi who exemplified hard work and an unwavering love for her family.
Sybil’s life was rich with the enjoyment of family visits and connections. She took great joy in nurturing her loved ones, including her son, Charles Lamon Guy, and her daughter, Shonda Mylod and her husband Richard. Her legacy as Gigi continues through her grandchildren, Padric Mylod, Zachary Guy, and Daniel Guy, as well as her great-grandchildren, Regan Mylod and Charlee Guy.
A faithful member of her church, Sybil’s devotion extended beyond her immediate family. She was known for her genuine warmth and dedication to those around her. The impact of her kindness will be felt by many.
Sybil was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Guy, her grandson, Matthew Robert Mylod, and seven siblings.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Green Hills Funeral Home in Troy from 5:00-7:00pm. A graveside service will be held on March 13, 2026, at 1:00pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, located on Mt. Zion Rd in Gordon, Alabama. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor and celebrate the life of this remarkable woman.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Compassus Hospice, especially Heather, Jessica, and Madison, for their care and concern. The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Guy family.
