Lynne Fowler Austin, a cherished soul whose life was marked by unwavering dedication, remarkable achievements, and boundless love, passed away at her home in Collierville, Tennessee, on March 13, 2026. Born on February 16, 1962, Lynne’s journey was one of strength, resilience, and vibrant joy.
A graduate of Charles Henderson High School and Auburn University, Lynne devoted over 30 years to a distinguished career in Human Resources at International Paper/Union Camp, where she served as a labor relations manager. Her professionalism was matched only by her compassionate spirit, making a lasting impact on her colleagues and the many lives she touched throughout her career.
Lynne’s zest for life was truly inspiring. An avid runner, she competed in numerous marathons and half marathons, including the St. Jude Marathon, Savannah Bridge Run, Rocket City Marathon, and the United Way Marathon, where she proudly earned several medals. One of her most treasured moments was winning her age group at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure—a victory that humorously came with the prize of a new breast cancer awareness mattress, a testament to her dedication and enduring spirit. Beyond running, she was remarkably fit and loved playing pickleball and spending time with her family at the beach and in the mountains, activities that mirrored her energetic and joyful nature.
Family was the cornerstone of Lynne’s life. She treasured her role as a devoted wife to Buddy Austin, their 41 years together enriching both their lives. As a loving mother to Will Austin married to Sierra, and a beloved grandmother to Berkleigh Lane and Mary Banks Austin, she found immense joy playing with her granddaughters, who affectionately called her "Lynnie." Lynne’s spirit shone brightest in her home—whether watching her son play baseball and football, tending to her yard work, or traveling alongside her sisters, Virginia Crumpler and Helen Morgan. Her sisters, Virginia (married to Denny) and Helen (married to Terry), along with several nieces and nephews, remain profoundly grateful for her vibrant presence.
An enduring breast cancer survivor, Lynne’s courage and tenacity inspired all who knew her. She was a devout Christian, member of her church and she cherished her Sunday School class, where her warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on her community.
Lynne was preceded in death by her loving parents, Helton and Nell Fowler, whose memories she held dear throughout her life. Though sorrow fills the hearts of those she leaves behind, Lynne’s laughter, strength, and the love she so freely gave will forever illuminate their lives.
Memorial services to honor Lynne’s beautiful spirit will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Green Hills Funeral Home in Troy, Alabama. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Andrew Knick officiating. Brian Johnson, Landon May, Nick Johnson, Jeffrey Morgan, Greg Johnson, and Mark Guthrie will serve as pallbearers.
Lynne Fowler Austin’s life was a luminous testament to resilience, love, and passion. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and community.
In addition to flowers, memorials may be made to Germantown Baptist Church, 9450 Poplar Ave, Germantown, TN 38139 or K-Love Radio, PO Box 2098, Omaha, NE 68103-2098. The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Austin family.
