Thomas Gennarelli Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 17, 2025.
Thomas Andrew Gennarelli is now resting peacefully after a sustained period of declining health. He is lovingly remembered by parents Dr. Thomas Anton and Alice Kay Gennarelli of West Chester, PA, siblings Laura Gennarelli (Wayne, PA), Gregory Scott Gennarelli (Huntington, NY) and Philip Gennarelli (Alexandria, VA) and their families, as well as his beloved Overland Park, Kansas family Jennifer Gennarelli (former wife), daughter Julia Thomas Gennarelli, son Thomas Andrew Gennarelli, Jr. and stepdaughter Madeline Branstetter McGill and extended families.

Born in Boston May 5, 1970, reared in Rockville, MD and Bryn Mawr, PA, Tom was graduated from William Penn Charter School (1988), then Skidmore College (BA 1992) and the Case Western Reserve Weatherhead Business School (MBA 1995) before working in finance for Sprint, first in Pennsylvania, then in Kansas where he met his wife, Jennifer. While enjoying his family and friends, as well as annual family vacations and whole-family Thanksgivings, Christmases and summer beach vacations, he remained with the same finance group despite its various acquisitions: Bell labs, then Lucent, Alcatel and, finally Nokia.

Tom's near-idyllic life changed dramatically in July 2018 when a ruptured brain aneurysm nearly cost him his life. While he made a miraculous recovery from the initial health event, complicating health issues remained until he passed away in his sleep from natural causes on August 21, 2025.

A future memorial service is expected to be private. Send any remembrances to the William Penn Charter School, Philadelphia, PA (www.penncharter.com), a school he supported for more than 30 years.
