Thomas Theodore Gukich, 82, of Oconomowoc, WI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at AngelsGrace Hospice surrounded by his family.
He was born on September 23,1941, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Ivan and Lorraine (Bartling) Gukich.
After graduating from Oconomowoc High School in 1959, he bravely served in the Air Force from September 14, 1959 – September 13, 1963.
On June 12, 1965, he married the love of his life, Betsy, and together they built a life centered around family. Tom dedicated his 35 year career to law enforcement, serving as a police officer for the Town of Oconomowoc and then as the Chief of Police until his retirement in 1998.
In his retirement, Tom found joy in spending time with his family, working on projects around the house, and cherishing the moments that truly mattered most to him.
Tom is survived by his beloved, Betsy; children Leslie Kleba, Scott (Becky); grandchildren Samantha (Joshua) Mosher, Danielle (Krys Kibler) Gukich, Christina and Evan Johnson; great-grandchild Rhett Thomas Mosher; siblings Judith (Donald) Felts and Timothy (Andrea) Gukich; sister-in-law Lynn (d: Peter) Rumpel. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents and his wife's parents, Robert and Elizabeth Rumpel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to ProHealth Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital in Tom's name are welcome.
A special thank you to the staff at ProHealth Oconomowoc Hospital and AngelsGrace for the care and compassion they gave to Tom.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (NEW LOCATION: 2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066) from 11:00am-3:00pm with a service to follow. Tom will be laid to rest at Wisconsin Memorial Park on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 10:00am.
