Keohane Funeral Home - QuincyThomas Gunning age 79, son of the late John and Kathryn (Cronin) Gunning. Loving husband of 46 years to his darling wife Jeanne (Regan) Gunning. Thom was born at home in Houghs Neck on” Ma’s side of the bed” He was a true proud Necka.
Thom came from a large Irish family, sister Joan Hurlburt of Hanover, Rita Beal of Bridgewater, brother Paul and his wife Pat of Rockland, Michael of Green Cove Spring, FL and several deceased brothers. Thom cherished his special relationship with his niece Kate Lavertue of Rockland. He had many nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews.
Thom worked close to 50 years for Grass Instruments/Astro Med. in Quincy and Braintree. He also tendered bar at Louis Cafe in Houghs Neck. He was a current card carrying member of The Eagles Aerie 2899 and the Moose Lodge 413 in Braintree.
Thom loved to travel, he had been to 40 of our 50 states. He walked on the glacier in Alaska, rode a helicopter into a volcano in Hawaii, and cruised to the Western and Eastern Caribbean. His favorite, were his trips to Ireland, on one trip he kissed the Blarney Stone and stayed in a castle. He was proud of his Irish heritage and loved to sing Irish songs, especially “Danny Boy”
Thom was a true gentleman, always willing to lend a hand, he will truly be missed.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a Funeral Mass in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1015 Sea St. Houghs Neck on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 10:30. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery.
