Thomas Hammill Jr.

Tommy Hammill, 69 of Milford, Ct. passed away peacefully on Feb. 14 at his sisters home, surrounded by loving sisters Beth, and Melodie. Tom battled COPD for years. The son of the late Ruth-Ann, Jinx and Thomas Hammill.

Tommy is survived by his daughter Tanya Mariano, his grandchildren Danny and Theresa McKenna.

He is also survived by sisters, Beth Austin (Jim), Pam O'Neill (Peter), Melodie Manion (Rob), Joy Shahram, Stacy Jumps (Dan). Brothers Martin Hammill, and Kenneth Hammill (Lori).Tommy had many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A very well known character around, West Haven, Milford, Stratford and the Valley.

Tommy grew up playing baseball on the fields of Fort Trumbull school along with his friends and neighbors, they all are still life long friends, to this day. We grew up in the best hood, Fort Trumbull. Tommy played softball for over 20 years for the Talons Athletic Club, and the 7 Seas, with many of those kids still.

Following in his father's footsteps he was a proud member of Boilermakers local 237.he was an avid sports fan. One of his favorite pastimes is to watch his beloved Yankees.

More than anything he was a family man, never straying too far from his daughter or siblings. His mother died young, leaving several teenage boys. Mom asked Tom to look out for Martin and Kenny. Those boys never had far to reach for help. On the other hand, Martin and Kenny watched over and helped when he needed them.

Tommy loved to get together with family and friends. We will celebrate Tommy's life on Sunday, Feb. 22nd. At Tommy's favorite Sunday morning venue. Scoreboards Cafe, 12:00, 100 Campbell Ave. West Haven, Ct. We hope his friends will join us for a final Budweiser toast.
