Thomas Hartfield Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCall's Bronxwood Funeral Home on Mar. 31, 2026.
THOMAS EDWARD HARTFIELD, JR.

Born: September 12, 1955

Transitioned: March 16, 2026

Obituary

It is with great sadness that the Hartfield family shares the loss of their loved one,

Thomas Edward Hartfield, Jr., who peacefully transitioned on March 16, 2026, in the

Bronx, New York. He was surrounded by his daughters, grandchildren, and ex-wife.

Thomas was born on September 12, 1955, in Harlem, NY, and was the second child to

Clotilda Jefferies Hartfield and Thomas E. Hartfield, Sr. His older sister, LaVerne

Hartfield Parker Wilson pre-deceased him in 2013.

As a young boy growing up in Washington Heights, NY, he was surrounded by his

family, including his mother's sisters, Dorothy Enlow Brown, Geraldine Johnson, and

their brother Robert Jefferies. Thomas was close to his cousins: Debra Enlow Clifton

and Clifford Brown, as well as Russell Johnson, Jewell Johnson, Larry Johnson, Robert

Prince Jefferies, and Lelah Jefferies. Thomas attended Resurrection Catholic School

and Church of the Incarnation. During those years, he also completed his holy

sacraments of Communion and Confirmation. He attended Lehman College.

As a youth, Thomas loved playing football. In addition to sports, he loved music. He

learned to play the bass and was bass player in bands that he and his friends formed

for many years into young adulthood. As an adult, Thomas loved to drive and ultimately

taught his (then) wife and daughters the joys and responsibilities of driving and car

ownership. Thomas was a self-taught photographer with a keen eye. He spent many

years taking and cataloging photographs of family and friends, as well as of scenic

places in and around New York State. He leaves a collection that will bring back

memories and happy moments to his family for many years to come. He also loved

movies-particularly horror and sci-fi.

He met and married Regina Amedee in 1980 and together they had two children:

Jennifer Hartfield and Stefanie Hartfield. Although divorced, they maintained their

friendship in recent years and enjoyed their four grandchildren.

Thomas' career spanned several organizations, most notably as a driver for Chemical

(now Chase) Bank, as transportation supervisor at the New York Botanical Garden and

transport specialist at Hertz Rental Cars.

Thomas will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Clotilda Jefferies Hartfield; his two

daughters, Jennifer Hartfield and Stefanie Hartfield; his grandchildren Lyla Banks, Olivia

Banks, Brielle Rivera and Benjamin Rivera, his ex-wife Regina, several nieces,

including Kim Parker, his nephew, John Earl Parker, and well as several cousins,

grandnieces, friends near and far, and his beloved cat, Mia.

A celebration of the Thomas's life will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at

McCall's Bronxwood Funeral Home, followed by a mass at St. Michaels Roman Catholic

Church on Thursday, April 16, 2026. He will be interred at Ferncliff Cemetery.

His daughters wish to thank all who have shared their heartfelt condolences, warm

thoughts, best wishes, and prayers. They ask that you remember Thomas for his smile,

humor and love of life.
