Thomas F. Hartle

Thomas F. "Uncle Tom" Hartle, 81, of Oil City, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca, Pennsylvania, leaving behind a legacy of generosity, strength, and deep love for his family.

Born on June 4, 1944, in Oil City, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late John F. and Mary M. Andres Hartle.

Thomas was a proud Vietnam veteran who served his country with honor. After returning home, he dedicated many years of hard work to Joy Manufacturing, where he eventually retired. He was known as a dependable and hardworking man.

Tom was a man of God and a devoted member of Saint Joseph's Church, where his faith was an important part of his life.

Tom believed in staying active and strong throughout his life. He spent countless hours lifting weights in his home gym and at the YMCA, a routine that reflected his discipline and determination. In his free time, he also enjoyed shooting at the Isaac Walton League, hunting, and following NASCAR-especially cheering on his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon.

A devoted sports fan, Tom rarely missed a chance to cheer on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Notre Dame.

He enjoyed spending time at the Knights of Columbus and Petrolia Lodge # 363 F &AM , and was a familiar face at local favorite Pizza Villa, where he appreciated good food and even better company.

Tom had an especially generous spirit and a heart of gold. He was passionate about giving back, regularly donating to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, supporting veterans, and contributing to various charities. His kindness and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Above all, Tom cherished his family. He loved spending time together, especially keeping traditions alive like going out for breakfast. Those moments meant the world to him and will be treasured forever by his loved ones.

He is survived by his youngest brother, Robert "Bob" Hartle and his wife Nancy ; a niece who was like a daughter to him, and whom he helped raise Angela Crabtree and her husband, Bryan, of Oil City and numerous nieces and nephews

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Kozyro, Constance Fesenmyer, and Nancy Hartle Voisin; two brothers, John M. Hartle; and an infant James L. Hartle.

Thomas will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered for his strength, generosity, faith, and unwavering love for family, friends, and community.

Friends will be received on Wednesday March 25 from 2-4 and from 7-9 P.M. in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. March 26 in St. Joseph Church with Fr. John Miller, Presiding.

Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Venango County Humane Society.
