Thomas William Hartman

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas William Hartman, who departed this world on June 6, 2025, in O'Fallon, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 21, 1945, in Jennings, Missouri, Thomas lived a life filled with compassion, creativity, and dedication to his family.

Thomas was a man of many talents, often referred to as a "Jack of all trades," particularly when it came to cars. His prowess extended beyond mechanics; he was a master craftsman whose passion for woodworking and metalworking brought joy to those he loved. His thoughtful creations included a beloved toy box for his children and a shelf for his daughter that remains a treasured piece to this day.

Educationally, he shone brightly as the captain of his high school football team, demonstrating leadership qualities that would persist throughout his life. His engaging personality and steadfast commitment to his family were evident in everything he did. As a loving husband for 60 years, he stood by his partner with unwavering support and affection. He never missed a softball game and even took on the role of coach for his daughter's team, showcasing his dedication not only to his family but to his community.

Thomas was cherished as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother embracing each role with warmth and kindness that left an indelible mark on the hearts of his loved ones. He was well-known for his charitable spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, no matter the circumstances. His selflessness and compassion were a guiding example of how to love and serve others.

His legacy lives on through his loving wife, Maureen Hartman and their four daughters: Christine (Rick) Hartman Dunse, Patricia (Bradley) Weiss, Jennifer (Matthew) Gentry, and Jacqueline Hartman, who carry forward the values he instilled in them. Thomas was a proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren: Lauren (Ethan) Conlee, Kristen (Jonathan) Ebling, Joshua Dunse, Jacob (Stephanie) Dunse, Blake Dunse, Taylor (Andrew) Cordes, Matthew Gentry, Jr., Mackenzie Gentry, Zachary Hartman-Tate, Hannah Tainter, and Bailey Tainter. He rejoiced in the company of six great-grandchildren: Baylee Dunse, Bentley Ebling, Logan Conlee, Weston Dunse, Willow Dunse, and Ellie Cordes, showering them all with boundless love, laughter, and wisdom.

Aside from his immediate family, Thomas is survived by four siblings, Mary Ann Hartman, Barbara Mathewson, Sharon (Steve) Raph, and Margee Wynn, as well as a niece, Michelle Shanahan, and a nephew, Michael Brendle.

Thomas is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Margaret Hartman; father, Charles William Hartman; and sister, Deborah Hartman.

As we reflect on Thomas's life, we remember a man characterized by his caring spirit and charitable heart. He was a gentle giant whose influence will be felt for generations to come, teaching all who knew him the true meaning of love and generosity. A visitation will be held on June 12, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass celebrating his life will follow on June 17, 2025, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in New Melle, Missouri, commencing at 10:00 AM.

Thomas William Hartman will forever be missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, a guiding light that will continue to inspire love and kindness in all who carry his memory.
