Thomas (Tom) M. Hartzog

Thomas "Tom" M. Hartzog, 72, passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Tom graduated from Central Catholic High School and Purdue University with Associated Degrees in Civil and Architectural Engineering. Later, he started Hartzog Construction which he has operated for the past 28 years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church. Tom was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's school and sporting events. He was also an avid Purdue and Bishop Dwenger fan and was part of the Chain Gang at Bishop Dwenger for over 25 years. Surviving are his wife, Joan Hartzog; sons, Brian (Jennifer) Hartzog and Todd (Tracy) Hartzog, all of Fort Wayne; grandchildren: Austin, Kyle, Joshua, Jack, and Ellen; and brothers, Philip (Barb) Hartzog of Fort Wayne and Christopher (Pam) Hartzog of Everett, WA. Tom was preceded in death by his son, Richard Hartzog; and parents, Phillip and Rosella Hartzog. Mass of Christian Burial is at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 3, 2015, at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Rd., with calling 1 hour prior. Calling also at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Friday, October 2, 2015, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm with a Rosary beginning at 4:30 pm. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to the Bishop Dwenger Athletic Department, Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana, or Masses at St. Vincent, Our Lady of Good Hope, or St. Charles.
