Thomas Gary "TT" Haskins, a cherished soul and a man of steadfast faith, was called to his eternal home on June 22, 2024. Born on May 27, 1960, in the city of
Indianapolis, Indiana, TT was a beacon of light and love to all who knew him. He transitioned peacefully from this world at his home in
Evansville, Indiana, due to natural causes.
TT's life was a testament to the values instilled in him by his beloved family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Jean (Haskins) Williams, his grandfather, Rev. Thomas O. Haskins, his grandmother, Odie Mae (Thomas) Haskins, his aunts, Tommye Mae Haskins Shanks and Jacqueline Haskins, and his uncle Rev. Jerry Haskins. TT's legacy continues through his adoring children-Catherine Moore, Shayla (Adam Bearden III) Graves-Bearden, Reginald Moore and Rosemary Montgomery-all of whom carry his spirit in their hearts.
The love TT shared with his life partner, Emma Haskins, was a source of great joy and companionship. Together, they nurtured a blended family that included Arletha "Faye" Randelson, Jacqueline Frye, and Demetrius Howell, all of
Evansville, IN. TT's eleven grandchildren-Izeaias Smith, Demetrius "Trey" Smith, Elijah Memmer, Jordan Montgomery, Danaiah Bacon, Jerry Lee Graves III, Darrel Bacon III, Laela Moore, Bryson Moore, Savannah Moore and Amiyah Michelle Bearden will forever treasure the wisdom and laughter he imparted.
TT was a pillar in his community, offering support and kinship to his brother Reginald Haskins, sister Cheryl Haskins, nieces Jordan Haskins and Amber Stewart, and great-niece Anna-Rose Stewart. His cousin Everett Nunn will fondly remember the unique bond they shared. TT's presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, neighbors, and the congregation of St. James Missionary Baptist Church.
A proud graduate of North High School in Evansville, TT carried the lessons of his youth throughout his life. He accepted Christ at an early age under the pastorship of grandfather the late Rev. Thomas O. Haskins and remained a devoted servant of the Lord, actively participating in church activities. As a skilled roofer, TT's craftsmanship protected many homes and businesses during his twenty-year tenure with the Local 106 union.
TT's passion for the Word of God was evident in his dedication to studying and sharing the Bible. At an early age he accepted Christ under the pastorship of his late grandfather Rev. Thomas O. Haskins at the St. James Missionary Baptist Church in
Evansville, IN. He lived by the words of the Apostle Paul, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). This scripture was not only his source of comfort but also his mantra as he faced life's challenges with unwavering faith.
An exceptional cook, TT delighted in preparing sumptuous meals for his loved ones, creating moments of fellowship around the dinner table. His zest for life shone through his love of music, entertainment, and sports. TT was a man of style, always dressed impeccably for any formal occasion, and he relished engaging in discussions on current political matters.
TT's journey was a life marked by devotion to his family, his church, and his community. His laughter, his counsel, and his spirit of generosity will live on in the memories of those he touched. We find solace in the assurance that TT is now resting in the arms of the Lord he served so faithfully.
