Thomas Troyce Hendricks, age 85, of Lithia Springs, Georgia, passed away peacefully on November 15, surrounded by the love of his family. A man of steadfast faith, deep devotion, and quiet strength, “Papa T” lived a life marked by service, generosity, and unwavering commitment to the people he cherished.
Born in Atlanta in 1940 to Thomas and Virginia Gibbs Hendricks, Troyce grew up in a large, lively family. After graduating from Brown High School in 1957, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy before joining Rheem Manufacturing Company, where he worked for more than 30 years.
Troyce was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Betty Hunton Hendricks; his parents; and five brothers and sisters. He carried their memories in his heart and honored them through the way he lived—faithfully, joyfully, and with humility.
He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Marie Hackney Hendricks, with whom he shared companionship and laughter, and a blended family that brought him great joy. He leaves behind his children, Stephanie “Suzy” Hendricks (Tim Smith) and Troy Hendricks (Christy); and his adored grandchildren, Christopher and Caitlyn Hendricks. He also embraced Marie’s children and grandchildren as his own: Eddie White (Teresa), Regina Olson (Eric), and step-grandchildren Nicholas Olson, Travis Duke, and Dakoda White.
A longtime member of Lithia Springs Methodist Church, Troyce served in countless ways, from leadership roles to simple acts of kindness. He was especially known for his homemade biscuits, which became a cherished staple of church breakfasts and a symbol of his warm, welcoming spirit.
Service was a way of life for Troyce. He spent more than a decade as a volunteer firefighter for Douglas County and was a proud member of the Battle Hill Lodge #523. His dedication to his community extended deeply into the lives of young people—he served in leadership roles in school and county PTA, led the Lithia Springs Youth Recreation Club as president, coached baseball, supported the marching band, applauded drama students, and guided Boy Scouts as a troop leader. Wherever his children were learning, playing, or growing, Troyce was there—encouraging, supporting, and leading by example. This carried over into his grandchildren's lives as he loyally attended their sports games, concerts, and other activities.
Those who knew Troyce will remember him for his kindness, his quiet reliability, and—above all—his love for his family. He lived fully, gave generously, and leaves a legacy of compassion and devotion that will continue to echo through the lives he touched.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Lithia Springs Methodist Church, with a reception to follow.
