Thomas Ira Hendricks

Mr. Thomas Ira Hendricks, 67, of Canton, MS, known affectionately as Tommy to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson, MS, surrounded by loved ones.
Tommy is survived by a loving family: his son, Luke Hendricks and two grandsons; his brothers, Delma Charles (Chuck) Hendricks, Jr. and Bill Ford; his sisters, Susan Shanks, Jill Hinton, and Nancy Singleton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mildred and Thomas Armstrong of Edwards, MS, and his parents, Ann Ford and Delma C. Hendricks, Sr.
After spending his childhood in Edwards, the family moved to Laurel where Tommy graduated from R. H. Watkins High School and earned a degree in Electronics Technology from Jones County Community College. In addition to working as a sound system engineer, he worked as a finish carpenter and a drywall installer for many years. But his passion was guitar. He was a Blues guitarist and played with various bands throughout his life.
Those who knew Tommy will recall a man who lived life on his own terms. He will be missed by family and friends who take comfort in knowing that because he accepted Christ as his Savior in 1979, they will see him again one day.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Edwards Cemetery in Edwards.
