Thomas R. Hewitt, 84, a lifelong resident of Bordentown and Cream Ridge, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, in Hamilton Township with his loving family beside him. Born and raised in Bordentown, Thomas remained deeply rooted in the community he cherished throughout his life.
A proud Bordentown High School graduate, Thomas built a distinguished career as a printer for The Wall Street Journal, from which he eventually retired. In retirement, he embraced what he considered his greatest and most important role; being the best father, grandfather, and great-grandfather he could possibly be. His devotion to his family was unwavering, and his presence was a steady source of wisdom, strength, and love.
Thomas was an avid fan of THE Pittsburgh Steelers, rarely missing a game and proudly cheering on his team through every season. He was an active member of the Bordentown Elks Lodge #2085 and the New Egypt Elks Lodge #2457, where he formed lasting friendships and served his community with dedication. Thomas also faithfully attended Pearson Memorial United Methodist Church, where his quiet faith was reflected in the kindness and compassion he showed to everyone he met.
He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Clarence and Ester Hewitt; his first wife, Ruth Ann Hewitt; his daughter, Cynthia Hartman; his brothers, John, James, and William Hewitt; and his sister, Lois Hewitt.
Thomas is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Joanne Hewitt; his daughter Nancy (Donald) Peluso; Debra (Michael) Siwczak, and Kim Stout-Figueroa. His granddaughters are Sherri (Micheal) Barrett, Jamie (John) Lowndes, Nicole (Michael) Healey; Eugene, Kory and Brooke Figueroa, Jeremy, Tyler and Lindsey Siwczak. His great grandchildren are Kenzie Weckenbrock, Brody and Blake Lowndes, Lincoln Healey, and Brayden Figueroa.
Thomas was an amazing man whose warmth, humor, and steadfast love will be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Peppler Funeral Home, Crosswicks Street in Bordentown. A viewing will take place there beginning 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Bordentown Cemetery.
