Doris W. Asson, 94, passed away peacefully on February 2,2026 at Care One in Marlton, NJ. A life-long resident of Hedding, NJ, Doris graduated from William McFarland High School, where she met her beloved husband, Ronald Asson. Doris, known to her classmates as Tootsie, was Salutatorian of her class and won several national typing and shorthand awards. Doris is predeceased by her husband, Ronald, her parents Charles and Helen Wainwright, sister Carol Pennock, and son in law, Robert Costello.
Doris, coming from a proud farm family, was the longest living member of the Hedding United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and playing the piano/organ. She and Ron were involved in a card club that met once a month and traveled together. Her many travels took her to Hawaii, France, Disney World, Niagara Falls, Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, San Francisco and many National parks out west. She worked at Ft. Dix Army post as a civilian and in the library at Northern Burlington Co High School.
She is survived by her children, Kathy Costello Adams (Mike), Patricia Yeagle (Bruce), Ronald Asson (Karen); grandchildren Robert Ryan Costello (Beckie), Kaitlin Chachko (Dennis), Derrick Yeagle (Mellissa), Darren Yeagle (Hadley Anderson), Laura Asson, Mary (Rueben ), Thomas Asson; Great-grandchildren: Caroline Yeagle, Norah Yeagle, Graham Yeagle, Savannah Yeagle, Chandler Anderson, Avery Chachko, Cooper Chachko, Brody Chachko, and Isabella Costello, nephews Kenneth Pennock and Stephen Pennock, as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday February 9 at the Hedding United Methodist Church, 2289 Old York Road, Hedding. Visitation will be from 10 am until time of service at the church. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hedding United Methodist Church, 2289 Old York Rd, Bordentown, NJ 08505.
