Thomas "Tom" Hodges, born on December 5, 1927, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home on December 27, 2025. Tom lived a life dedicated to service, family, and his community, leaving behind a profound legacy.

Professionally, Tom worked as a Lineman and Equipment Engineer for Bellsouth, where his skill set and tenacity were well recognized. His educational journey led him to Ahrens Trade School, which laid the foundation for a career built around his uncanny ability to fix almost anything. Friends and family alike remember him for this remarkable talent.

In addition to his career, Tom proudly served in the Navy during World War II, exemplifying his love for his country. He remained a devoted and generous soul, actively engaging with his community through various initiatives. He was instrumental in Pearl Harbor Survivors groups and dedicated his time as a docent at the Louisville Zoo, sharing his passion for animals and education with others.

Tom's hobbies provided him with much joy and fulfillment. He loved playing the organ by ear and had the proud distinction of performing in front of 200 people at the Lowrey Convention in Chicago. His affinity for model trains and his daily walks with his dog brought him simple pleasures that he cherished deeply.

He is survived by his loving children, Linda Forest (John), Rev. Laura Meier (Rev. Scott), Donna Bonin (Donald), and Danny Hodges; his grandchildren, Tiffany Graham (Dr. Travis), Rev. Rachel Laughlin (Rev. Christopher), and Justin Meier; as well as his great grandsons, Tommy and TJ Graham, and other family members including his niece, Shirley Bosler (Nick); his brother, Charles Hodges: and his sister, Helen Porter (Richard). He will also be remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia A. Hodges, and his parents, Harry and Pearl (Schoen) Hodges. His absence will be felt keenly by all who knew and loved him, and his generous spirit will continue to inspire.

Visitation will be held on January 7, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. John Lutheran Church, located at 901 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, KY 40207, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A Graveside Service will take place at Cave Hill Cemetery, 401 Baxter Avenue, Louisville, KY 40204 at 2:30 PM.

Tom Hodges’ life was a testament to faith, family, and service, and his memory will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Memorial contributions in Tom's memory may be made to St. John Lutheran Church and/or The Louisville Zoo.
