Passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, in Lockport, New York. He was born on September 26, 1952, in Troy, New York, the son of Robert J. and Virginia (Labrum) Honan. After graduating from Guilderland High School in 1970, Tom went on to earn both his bachelor's degree and MBA from SUNY Binghamton, laying the foundation for a life and career devoted to cultural and academic advancement. Tom's career in the arts led him to Artpark in Lewiston, NY, where he served as Associate Director. It was there he met Trisha, the love of his life, whom he married in 1988. Tom served as the Executive Director of the Kenan Center, the VP of Institutional Advancement at Hilbert College, Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at University at Buffalo, and VP for Development at Villa Maria College. His career was devoted to serving these institutions, securing major corporate and foundation support that helped advance education and research across Western New York. Tom found joy in reading, building, music, and the quiet happiness of everyday life, but nothing mattered more to him than his family. He also deeply loved his two dogs, Sofie and Hazel, who were constant companions and a great source of comfort and joy. Tom cherished time spent outdoors, especially camping in the Adirondacks, where he found peace in nature and simple moments. Over the past year, he faced many complications with quiet strength and grace. Through it all, he never complained and never lost hope. As his illness made speaking increasingly difficult, Tom remained present and connected until the very end, recognizing his family and carefully offering the words that mattered most to him: "all together" and "I adore you." Those final expressions, hard-won and deeply intentional, will forever reflect the love he carried throughout his life. Thomas is survived by his wife of 37 years, Trisha; children Erika Honan, Grayson Honan, and Madeleine (Quinn) Ennis; grandchildren Keenan and Xavier; sister Carol (Berny) Rasowsky; and many loving nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother Michael Honan and sister Constance Rue. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the many relatives and friends whose love, kindness, and support carried them through this very difficult year as Tom bravely battled brain cancer.
