Thomas Bennett Hooker, known affectionately as Tom to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024, in Greenville, SC. Born on May 23, 1944, in New Jersey, Tom's life was a tapestry of love, service, and joy that touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Tom was a man of many talents and interests. He proudly served his country in the National Guard, a commitment that spoke to his sense of duty and patriotism. His professional life was spent in the textile mills, and he also served his community as a notary public and was a dedicated member of the Shriners.

Beyond his professional and service commitments, Tom was a man who loved the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for the outdoors, often found in the beauty of nature, which provided him with endless joy and serenity. His love for his church was profound, and he loved singing gospel songs.

Tom's home was a hub of activity and warmth, filled with the laughter and love of his family. He was the beloved patriarch to a large and vibrant family, including his late wife Betty J. Hooker, his sons Tommy and Troy Hooker, his daughter Tina Passmore, and their respective spouses Kim, Angie, and Ronnie. Tom was predeceased by his son Timmy Hooker, as well as his siblings Billy, Kenneth, Sammy, and Pat.

He was a cherished grandfather to Tiffany (Chad), Kevin (Michelle), Kaitlyn (Corey), Shane (Tonya), Casey (Daniel), Rex (Lindsey), Chris (Jessica), Josh (Cassidy), Alex (Lindsay), and a doting great-grandfather to Ava, Elizabeth, Taylor, Johnathon, Kaylee, Brandon, Makenna, Camden, Liam, Dynesty, Jaylen, Landon, Dallas, Kelsee, Carter, Brady, Camden, Rhyatt, Avery, Casin, Vanessa, and one great-great-grandchild, Meadow. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and adventures.

Tom was a collector of treasures, often joking that one man's junk was another man's treasure. He had a knack for wheeling and dealing, always on the lookout for the next great find. His sense of humor was infectious, and he had a gift for making people laugh. Generosity was second nature to Tom; he gave freely of his time, resources, and skills. He was also incredibly handy, able to fix or build just about anything.

As we say goodbye to Tom, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that will be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to share in his journey. His legacy of laughter, kindness, and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Tom's life was a testament to the power of joy, the strength of family, and the beauty of faith.

The Hooker family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who have been a part of Tom's life. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Thomas Bennett Hooker was a beacon of light in the lives of many, and his spirit will continue to guide us, just as the stars guide the sailors at sea. Rest in peace, Tom, and may your song of life be carried on the winds of heaven.
