Thomas Howard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Feb. 26, 2026.
Thomas Dawson Howard, II, of Warner Robins, Georgia passed away unexpectedly on February 25, 2026, at the age of 71.

Thomas was born on August 4, 1954, in Warrenton, England to the late Douglas Lamar Howard, Sr. and Vera Howard (Megson). From an early age, Thomas demonstrated a strong sense of duty and commitment that would define his life.

After completing high school, Thomas proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he rose to the rank of Technical Sergeant (TSgt). His years of service reflected his dedication, leadership, and steadfast character.

Following his military career, Thomas continued to serve his country through his work as a software engineer. He was employed by Northrop Grumman, where he built a respected career before retiring. He also worked with NASA, during which time he received the prestigious Silver Snoopy Award in recognition of outstanding contributions to flight safety and mission success - an honor he held with great pride.

Thomas found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved fishing, camping, and listening to music. He kept himself well-informed on political current events and was never one to shy away from a spirited discussion. A devoted fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide football, he cheered them on faithfully with a proud "Roll Tide!"

Above all else, Thomas treasured his family. He loved nothing more than spending time with his precious grandchildren - Carson, Lucy, Ruby, and Dawson. Any time spent with them was time well spent, and they were truly the light of his life.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved son, Sean David Howard.

Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life, his wife, Virginia "Ginny" Howard (Pate); his son, Christopher Howard (Crystal) of Haynesville, Georgia; his daughter, Jessica Emerson (Jason) of Warner Robins, Georgia; his adored grandchildren, Carson, Lucy, Ruby, and Dawson; his brother, Douglas Lamar Howard, Jr. of Warner Robins, Georgia; and his sister, Denise Ottum of Warner Robins, Georgia.

Thomas will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his country, his work, and most importantly, his family. His legacy of love, service, and loyalty will live on in all who knew and loved him.

With honor, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with handling arrangements.
