Monroe was born in Rockingham County to the late David and Helen Isley. He was a humble and generous man, recognized as an outstanding farmer. When not working, he was happiest when sharing stories, he remembered from a lifetime spent on the land he loved. He enjoyed his fellow farmers and could be counted on to lend a hand or a word of advice when needed. Most of all he loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and the community he loved so much.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two grandchildren, Evan Thomas Isley and Allyson Taylor Isley.
Monroe is survived by his wife of 53 years, Brenda Webster Isley; sons, Alan R. Isley (Becca), Jeffrey L. Isley, John T. Isley (Libby); grandchildren, Ben, Nathan, Cade, Emily, and Riley Isley; siblings, David “Bud” Isley (Nancy), Rachel Wall (Gordon), Anita Knight (Donald) along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a large and loving group of extended family and friends.
