Thomas Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Dec. 26, 2025.
Thomas Coleman Johnson, age 92, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was called home to be with the Lord on December 22, 2025.
Thomas was born on May 26, 1933, in Oklahoma City, where he spent his entire life building a legacy of faith, dedication, and love for his family. He met the love of his life, Wanda June, while attending church at 10th and Francis Church of Christ. Their shared faith laid the foundation for a lifelong partnership. On September 17, 1954, Thomas and Wanda were married, beginning a marriage rooted in devotion, commitment, and Christian love. Together, they built a family and a legacy that continues through generations. His family finds comfort in knowing that he has been joyfully reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Wanda.
In 1952, Thomas was drafted into the United States Army, where he served his country with honor. After completing his military service, he began his career in 1955 with the Oklahoma Publishing Company. He started in the composing room and, through dedication and adaptability, spent his final years before retirement working in programming. Thomas retired in 1993, concluding a long and faithful career marked by a strong work ethic and commitment.
Above all else, Thomas was a man of Christian faith. He lived his life grounded in his belief in Christ, finding comfort and purpose in his faith and church family.
Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda June Johnson; his parents, Homer and Alberta Johnson; three brothers, Richard "Dick," Michael "Mickey," and Theodore "Teddy"; and his sister, Sandra.
He is survived by his three children: Scott Johnson and his wife, Bonna; Laurie Glasco and her husband, Dr. Wayne Glasco; and Tim Johnson and his wife, Glenda.
He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Bill Early and his wife, Crystal, of Moore; David Johnson of Kansas; Kati Ratliff and her husband, Sean, of Moore; TJ Johnson; Cheyanne Johnson; Kyla MacDonald and her husband, Mason; and Mallory Glasco.
He was also blessed with five great-grandchildren: Ava, Ryley, Ryan, Hazel, and Henry, who brought him great joy.
He is also survived by two brothers, Jerry Johnson and Dennis Johnson, and one sister, Nancy Dickerson, along with many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Thomas's life will be held on January 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Southwest Church of Christ, where family and friends will gather to honor his life and faith.
Thomas will be remembered for his love of family, his steadfast faith, and the legacy of integrity and devotion he leaves behind. Though he will be deeply missed, his family rejoices in the promise of eternal life and the assurance that he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior.
2 Timothy 4:7-8
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. NIV
