Thomas J. Keller

Thomas James Keller, aged 79, passed away after a short illness at Saratoga Hospital with his wife Andrea and daughter Olivia by his side.
Tom, also fondly known as "TK," was born April 4, 1944, in Palo Alto, California to Thomas Loucks Keller and Nancy Adams Keller. He grew up in Bethpage, Long Island and was a graduate of Binghamton University. He served in the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant in the Signal Corps in Da Nang, Vietnam between 1968 and 1969. Tom was the recipient of the Bronze Star.
Following his military service, Tom began his 35-year career with State Farm Insurance. He was loved and respected by countless associates he worked with over the years. Tom was a leader and the "go to guy" for his claims expertise. Not only was he known for his vast knowledge but his wit and humor which brought levity to those around him.
While Tom excelled in his career at State Farm, his true passion was music. At the age of 10, he began playing the trombone, which evolved into a love of doo wop music and rock n' roll. Tom played bass, guitar, and harmonica, and sang lead vocals in numerous bands, spanning over sixty years. Most recently, he actively performed in the Saratoga Springs music scene, both as a solo artist and band member.
In addition to music, Tom was a licensed ham radio operator and possessed his pilot's license. His love of aviation included building and flying model airplanes.
Tom's pride and joy was his family. His retirement enabled him to be a full-time stay-at-home dad and enjoy many quality years raising his daughter Olivia, with his wife Andrea. Most recently, he became a Syracuse University Orange dad, where Olivia is a student.
Tom is survived by his wife of 23 years, Andrea Hebert Keller, his daughter Olivia, of Halfmoon, NY, his son Bryan Keller of Wesley Chapel, Florida, Bryan's wife Michelle, and two grandsons, Dylan and Logan. He is also survived by his brother, Jerry Keller of Ithaca, New York, Larry Keller of Indian Land, South Carolina, his sister Kristin Silver of Loveland, Colorado and several nieces and a nephew.
It was Tom's wish to have a private service with his immediate family. Memorial contributions can be made to your local animal shelter or a veterans' organization of your choice.
