Thomas Kenny Obituary

Visit the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Homes - Hicksville website to view the full obituary.
Thomas Gerard Kenny, born July 9, 1941, in Woodside, New York, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose warmth, strength, faith, and deep pride in his Irish heritage left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

In 1965, Thomas married the love of his life, Veronica ("Ronnie") Lyons. Their marriage was a true partnership filled with devotion and shared purpose that endured until Veronica's passing in 2010. Together they built a loving family and a home grounded in Catholic faith and love.

Thomas was the proud father of four children: Patrice (who predeceased him) (James), Ann, Thomas, and Colleen (Ryan). His greatest joy was his growing family, which included six cherished grandchildren-Tara (Ryan), Stephen, Shamus, Abby, Quinn, and Molly-and one beloved great-grandson, Connell. He delighted in their accomplishments and milestones and was happiest when surrounded by them.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Thomas, and his sister-in-law, Mae Kenny. He was predeceased by his siblings Jack, Patrick, and his twin, Kathleen Kennedy.

An enormously positive, optimistic, and supportive man, Thomas had a gift for lifting others up and making those around him feel valued and loved. Deeply proud of his Irish heritage, he carried his roots in his heart and spirit throughout his life. He was deeply committed to his church, St. Ignatius, and

was especially devoted to his work with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He valued family above all else and was known for his steady presence, kind heart, and enduring love.

He will be remembered for the life he lived, the values he instilled, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A wake will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, 47 Jerusalem Avenue, Hicksville, New York 11801, with visitation hours from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Ignatius Loyola Parish, 129 South Broadway, Hicksville, New York 11801.

Burial will follow at the chapel at St. Charles/Resurrection Cemeteries, 2015 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, New York 11735
