Thomas' life began in New York City, New York on October 7th, 1938. He was raised by his mom Helen Eleanor Kline and had one older Brother John Logie and one older sister Jeanne Cashmere. Thomas was a strong-willed child who started working at 7 years old to help support his mom and family. Thomas grew up very very poor even sleeping on a door for a bed but understood that riches were not monetary but in love and in family.
At 18, he met the love of his life Mary Teresa Colangelo. They both worked together at the dry goods store in Scranton Pennsylvania where he was a stock boy, and she was a cashier. Apparently using the ladder to stock the shelves caught Mary's eye and they were married on Augst 1, 1959. Their love grew and God blessed them with a son Thomas on December 9th, 1961. He was a proud father and always wanted a son to carry on the Kline name but changed his middle name to Anthony to allow him to forge his own path. Four years later on November 6th, 1965, he was blessed with another son whom he named Eric. However unable to arrive at a middle name he looked down at his Hamilton watch and decided that was perfect for his middle name as it sounded strong and noteworthy. Three years later in 1968 he was blessed with and then lost another son Anthony who died just after his birth.
Thomas worked at the Trane Company in Scranton where both his brother John and close friend Forrest Carpenter worked. Wanting more for his family, while working full-time, Thomas attended night school at the University of Scranton. In 1968 he Graduated Cum Laude and received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He subsequently was hired after graduation at IBM as an engineer and relocated his family to Apalachin, New York. For the next 23 years he held increasingly responsible roles at IBM until he retired as an advisory engineer in 1991.
Thomas then relocated to Bradenton Florida to become a snowbird. He then spent the next 30 plus years doting over his one true love Mary. Square Dancing, Line Dancing, Exercising, Travelling, and even making pizza dough together. Even after 65 years of marriage, they still held hands, danced, blew kisses to each other and were the very model of what it means to find your true love.
Recently Thomas experienced an illness while in rehab treatment and unexpectedly passed away on November 23, 2024. He is predeceased by a brother John and sister Jeanne and sons Thomas and Anthony Kline. He is survived by wife Mary and has one living son Eric Kline. He has one grandson Andrew Thomas Kline, of whom he was extremely proud. He has a Brother and Sisters in Law, Beatrice Carpenter and Bob and Ann Jacobs. He has numerous Nieces and nephews on both the Logie and Colangelo sides.
Thomas Howard Kline touched the lives and hearts of everyone who met him. His love and caring showed through by always remembering your name and making sure you were ok. He would always say I am praying for you. Although we know Tom is in a better place, the world is a little darker today without him.
