Thomas W. Kulhowvick passed away peacefully at Foltsbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Herkimer, New York on July 21, 2025, after a long illness.
He was born on March 4, 1947, and raised in Torrington, CT, the son of the late Walter and Mary (Dziedzic) Kulhowvick. Tom graduated from Torrington High School, in 1965, and Saint Michael's College, in Colchester VT, in 1969, after which he enlisted in the Army's Officer Training Program and became a lieutenant stationed with the 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, KY.
After serving in the Army, Tom began a long and successful sales and management career in the insurance industry, where he specialized in group insurance coverage.
Tom enjoyed many sports and recreational activities throughout his life. During his high school and college years, he played on both the baseball and golf teams. He was a long-time member at the Torrington Country Club, where he spent his early years as a caddy and greenskeeper, and later as a player. Tom loved to fish and hunt and was a member of the Torrington Fish & Game club for many years. He enjoyed passing on these outdoor skills to his children and they took many camping trips, and fishing outings together. It was often said that Tom's second home was the outdoors.
Tom is survived by his wife Lynn (Farrington) Kulhowvick, and three children, their spouses and three grandchildren. Tom Kulhowvick Jr. (Marcela), and their daughter, Katalina in North Myrtle Beach, SC; Justine Hoffmann (John) and their children, Leon and Elias, in Rochester, NY; and Danielle Kulhowvick in Hanahan, SC. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Madelyn Farrington, and his brother-in-law Bruce Farrington, Jr., and his brothers Joseph Kulhowvick (Jackie) in Harwinton, CT., and John Kulhowvick (Brigid) in Essex, VT. Tom has also been blessed with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Mary Kulhowvick, and his father-in-law, Bruce Farrington Sr.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Newport, NY at 11:00 am on Friday, August 1st, 2025. All are welcome to attend. Arrangements are entrusted to the Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport.
