Thomas Kunik, age 91, passed peacefully on August 31 surrounded by family. Born on May 27, 1934, St. Paul, MN.
Survived by wife of 67 years, Phyllis; children, Paul Kunik, Beth Kunik(Rollie Schnell), and Julie Case(Steven); grandchildren, Jeffrey Case, Jennifer, Case Emily Case, Calle Chartrand, CaitlinMellgren, and Conner Schell; and great-grandchildren Noella and Russell Case-Lentz, Mikuzi Case, Leo and Marley Mellgren. Many nieces and nephews, friends, and fellow parishioners of St. Francis de Sales will also miss his loving presence.
Thomas served in the Army from 1954 – 1956. He worked for NSP/Excel Energy for 34 years. Tom enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and traveling. He was an active participant at church and volunteered for a variety of charitable organizations. Above all else, Tom enjoyed time with his family. Card games, croquet tournaments, ping pong, and golfing with grandchildren were all activities that Tom enjoyed. He imparted much wisdom throughout his lifetime but mostly, he showed his loved ones how important it is to value family.
There will be a memorial service at Saint Francis De Sales (650 Palace Ave, St Paul, MN 55102) on September 11, 2025 at 11 AM with a visitation one hour prior. A grave side service with follow at Resurrection Cemetery (2101 Lexington Ave S, Mendota Heights, MN 55120).
