Barbara M. Kunik, passed away on June 13, 2025 at the age of 94. She was a resident of Burt, Michigan and was a devoted wife, caring mother and loving grandmother.
She was born December 16, 1930 in Saginaw, MI, to Clarence and Elsie (Gruenberg) Novak. Shortly after graduating high school in Saginaw, she married the love of her life, Joseph E. Kunik. The two were wed on September 16, 1950. They raised four children and spent 70 years together before his passing in 2021.
Barbara was a dedicated homemaker who loved to cook and bake, canned vegetables from her beloved garden, and sew. She also enjoyed trips up north and going fishing. Above all else, Barbara found immense joy in her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
She is survived by her children, Joseph (Cay) Kunik Jr., Kevin (Judy) Kunik, and Barbara (Victor) Martinski; son-in-law, Steve Gunter; grandchildren, Teri Kunik, Justin (Kristen) Kunik, Tyler (Jenny) Kunik, Benjamin (Kayce) Gunter, Timothy (Alicia) Gunter, Joshua (Alayna) Kunik, Alexandria (Austin) Chludil, Stephanie (Matthew) Behrens, Melissa (Kyle) Ellis, Kimberly Martinski, and Steven Martinski; step-grandchildren, Matthew Staszak and Kelly (Kevin) Reed; great-grandchildren, Emmee, Jaycob, Max, and Luke Hilgendorf, MacKynlee, Reagan Kunik, Lexie, Tessa, Grayer, and Blakely Gunter, Reed and Elise Chludil, and Ethan and Addison Behrens and Hadley and Mable Ellis; and step-great-grandchildren, Berkleigh Reed, Whitley Reed, and Ella Clarkson; brother Robert (Susie) Novak.
She is predeceased by her husband, Joe Kunik; daughter, Victoria Gunter; her granddaughter, Nicole Gunter; her parents; brothers Clarence, Frank, Delbert and Bernard; and sister, Sally.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 20, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albee. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Albee Township. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at McGeehan Funeral Homes, Martin Chapel from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
